Admiral Rowland Nugent, Royal Navy, Retired (22 December, 1861 – 25 March, 1948) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Nugent was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1884.[1]

Nugent was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1898.[2]

On 4 March, 1902, Nugent was appointed to Victory, lent for a Signal Course.[3] He was appointed in command of the sloop Algerine on 1 May.[4]

Nugent was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1904.[5]

He was appointed in command of the second class protected cruiser Flora on 23 August, 1907.[6]

He was appointed in command of the battleship Illustrious on 3 May, 1910.[7]

He was appointed in command of the battleship Albemarle on17 December, 1912.[8]

He was appointed in command of the battleship Victorious on 30 July, 1914.[9]

Nugent was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 1 June, 1916,[10] and was placed on the Retired List on 2 June, in accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 9 March, 1914.[11] He was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 25 March, 1920,[12] and advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 8 May, 1925.[13]

Nugent died on 25 March, 1948.[14]
