Captain Joseph Burnett, (26 December, 1899 – 19 November, 1941) served in the Royal Australian Navy.

Life & Career

Burnett was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 January, 1920.

Burnett was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 January, 1928.

Burnett was promoted to the rank of Commander in December, 1932.

Burnett was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1938.

Burnett died when his command, the light cruiser H.M.A.S. Sydney, was sunk by the German raider Kormoran.
