H.M.S. Swiftsure was one of two Swiftsure Class central battery ironclads completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

Swiftsure was commissioned at Devonport on 27 March, 1882. In summer 1885, she made her way home to England.[6]

The ship visited the port of Mahon in Minorca, Spain from 15-20 August 1874 under the command of John Kennedy Erskine Baird.[7]
