Captain (retired) John Davis Moulton, (30 August, 1853 – May, 1921) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Moulton was promoted to the rank of Navigating Lieutenant on 15 May 1876.
Moulton was promoted to the rank of Staff Commander on 6 October 1889.
He was placed in command of the old screw frigate Liffey, which was a store and depot ship maintained at Coquimbo, Chile in June, 1901. He remained in this post until the ship was discarded in 1903.[1] He was promoted to the rank of Staff Captain on 17 January, 1903.
Moulton was placed on the Retired List on account of age at the rank of Captain on 30 August, 1913, becoming the last officer of the old Navigating Branch to retire. He died suddenly on a train running between High Barnet and Finchley in May 1921.[2]
