Commander Arthur Collier Petherick (Retired) (22 August, 1881 – 17 March 1965)[1] served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of a customs collector in Sligo, Petherick gained seven months' time on passing out of Britannia.

Petherick was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 March, 1903.

Petherick was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 March, 1911.

Petherick served as first and gunnery officer in Bellona of the Second Destroyer Flotilla from 1 June, 1913 to 15 March, 1917.

Petherick was mentioned in despatches for destroying U 87 while in command of the sweeping sloop Buttercup on Christmas Day, 1917.

Petherick was placed on the Retired List with the rank of Commander on 6 December, 1923.
