Captain John Domvile Auchmuty Musters, D.S.O., R.N., Retired (10 December, 1892 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of retired Captain J. G. Musters, R.N..

Musters was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 July, 1915[1]

On 9 August, 1915, admitted to hospital in Alexandria with a gunshot wound to his foot.

Musters was captain of the submarine C 4 on 28 October, 1917 when she hit UC 17 with a dud torpedo and on 27 March, 1918, when she did the same to UB 57.[2]

Post-War

On 14 August, 1920, Musters was appointed in command of the submarine L 21.[3]

Musters was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 July, 1923.

Musters was promoted to the rank of Commander on 39 June, 1929.

World War II

Musters was placed on the Retired List with the rank of Captain on 10 December, 1942.

A Court Martial conviction date 21 August, 1944 on charges originally under Section 28 of N. D. Act but altered to Section 43 caused all his seniority as a captain to be forfeited, altering his seniority to 21 August, 1944. He was severely reprimanded and dismissed Eaglet.
