Captain Francis William Hugh Jeans, C.V.O., R.N. (22 October, 1893 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of Francis Austen Jeans, Fleet Surgeon, R.N..[1]
Jeans was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 April, 1915. On the 25th he was appointed to the destroyer Havelock. On 28 August 1916 he was appointed to the battleship Resolution, in which he served until being appointed to the light cruiser Cassandra in June 1917.[2]
Jeans was awarded the Commander Egerton Prize for passing the best examination in practical Gunnery when qualifying for Gunnery Lieutenant.
Jeans was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 April, 1923.[3]
Jeans was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1928.[4]
Jeans was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1934.[5]
World War II
He was placed on the Retired List on 5 January, 1944.[6]
