Commander (retired) John Roberts Poland, R.N. (20 January, 1893 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of a surgeon.
Poland was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 February, 1915. He was appointed to the Achates on 8 March 1916 and would fight in her at the Battle of Jutland as part of the Fourth Destroyer Flotilla.
Poland was appointed in command of the patrol boat P58 on 22 June, 1918.[1]
Poland was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 February, 1923. He commanded M.L. 291 from the end of 1924 through 20 April 1926, vice Bilton[?].
Poland was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Commander on 20 January, 1936.
