Temporary Lieutenant R.N.R. Ernest Norman Gosling, R.N.R. (20 March, 1883 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Born in Birmingham, Warwick.

Gosling was promoted to the rank of Temporary Sub-Lieutenant R.N.R. on 25 August, 1915. Gosling served briefly in Hollyhock and was promoted to the rank of Acting Temporary Lieutenant R.N.R. on 23 November, 1915. In March 1916, he was placed in the sweeping sloop Godetia to be her navigating officer.[1]

In February 1917, Hubert H. Holland noted that Gosling was "careful, painstaking, [and] reliable" and possessed an "intensive knowledge of Levant & Alexandria," where he had served as a master and pilot.[2]

Gosling was promoted to the rank of Temporary Lieutenant R.N.R. on 25 August, 1917.[3]

He was demobilised on 10 November, 1919.[4]
