Vice-Admiral (retired) William Metcalfe Lang, R.N. (1843 – 15 December, 1906) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Lang was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 3 September, 1863.
Lang was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1875.
Lang was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1884.
Lang declined an offer from the Chinese Government in 1895 to re-organise their navy in the aftermath of the war on account of his ill health.
Placed on the Retired List on account of age on 19 August, 1898.
Lang was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral (retired) on 22 July, 1899 and then to the rank of Vice-Admiral (retired) on 10 February, 1904.
