Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. (retired) Mervyn Harley Rodney, (16 August, 1890 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Rodney was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 2 December, 1917.[1]

Rodney was relieved in command of T.B. 066, having been judged not "capable enough for an independent command." He was sent to Haslar Hospital on 2 April. Despite this determination, after some time at Excellent, he was appointed in command of the destroyer Kennet on 27 May 1918. He would receive an adverse report in connection with discipline aboard the ship later that year. He served in H.M.S. Renown from 30 October 1918 to mid-January, 1919 before being demobilised on 31 July 1919.[2]

Rodney was placed on the Retired List on 1 July 1921 and promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 2 December, 1925.[3]
