Lieutenant-Commander Godfrey Berkeley John Benyon, (10 September, 1883 – 1 November, 1914) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Benyon was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1905.[1]

In December 1909, Captain Marescaux of Kent deemed that Benyon had shown "not much interest. Inclined to be brusque. Not behaved to my satisfaction."[2]

On 23 May 1910, he was admitted to Chatham Hospital to be treated for gonorrhea.[3]

Benyon was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 June, 1913.[4]

Benyon was appointed to the armoured cruiser H.M.S. Good Hope on 17 August, 1914 and died when she sank with all hands at the Battle of Coronel on 1 November.[5]
