Commander (retired) Evan George Charles Cavendish, O.B.E., R.N. (23 February, 1891 – 4 September, 1955) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Cavendish was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 December, 1913.[1]
He served in Minotaur at the Battle of Jutland and then in the destroyer Exmouth from December 1916 to February 1917 when he moved to the battleship Implacable. He later served in Europa and Lord Nelson.[2]
Cavendish was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 December, 1921.[3]
He was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the considerable gratuity of £1,600 on 28 January, 1925.[4]
Cavendish was promoted to the rank of Commander on 23 February, 1931.[5]
World War II
On 6 September 1939, he was appointed as Sea Transport Officer, Grade I, Southampton.
