Commander (retired) Alan Courtenay Moncrieff Bennett, (26 June, 1891 – 26 June, 1953) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Son of Consul General Courtenay W. Bennett.[1]
Having recently received training in submarines, Bennett was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 August, 1913. At the outset of the war, he was serving in submarines under the care of the tender Forth. From September 1915 to June 1916, he was in E 2.[2]
In 1918 he struck the tug Fox with G 10 and was told to be more careful in future.[3]
Bennett was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 August, 1921. He would be treated for an eye disease in 1922. Later, he would be examined for an unspecified condition while serving as an instructional officer for submariners on the books of H.M.S. Vulcan. Bennett was placed on the Retired List as medically unfit on 29 August, 1924.[4]
Bennett was promoted to the rank of Commander on 26 June, 1931.[5]
World War II
Reverted to the Retired List on 1 October 1945.[6]
