Following the loss of his command Gentian to a mine off Latvia, Brind was appointed Senior Assistant Officer at some illegible place on 13 August, 1919.[6]
He was appointed in command of the patrol boat P40 on 20 October, 1920.[7]
It was determined that there was no blame attributable for a collision between P40 and P38 on 14 January, 1921.[8]
Brind passed an examination in 1921 to qualify for command of destroyers.[9]
Shortly after asking that his eyesight be surveyed at Haslar Hospital, Brind was placed on the Retired List as medically unfit on 15 February, 1924 and informed that he could apply for a step in rank at age 40.[10]
Brind was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on the Retired List on 15 March, 1924.[11]
Brind was promoted to the rank of Commander on the Retired List on 1 January, 1934.[12]
