He was appointed as Gunnery Officer in {{UK-Warrior}} 27 May, 1913.  In this appointment, he saved a seaman from drowning on 14 October, 1914, for which he was awarded the [[Royal Humane Society Silver Medal]].

Vice-Admiral Norman Atherton Wodehouse, C.B., Royal Navy, Retired (18 May, 1887 – 4 July, 1941) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 30 July, 1907.[1]

He was appointed as Gunnery Officer in Warrior 27 May, 1913. In this appointment, he saved a seaman from drowning on 14 October, 1914, for which he was awarded the Royal Humane Society Silver Medal.

Wodehouse continued to serve as gunnery officer in Warrior until 30 August, 1915 when he was appointed Gunnery Officer in Revenge, being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 July 1915. He served in Revenge at the Battle of Jutland, and until his promotion to Commander on 30 June, 1919.[2]

He was promoted to the rank of Captain with seniority of 30 June, 1926.[3]

In December 1928, he was appointed in command of the light cruiser Calypso.

Promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral with seniority of 30 June, 1937.[4]

World War II

Wodehouse was placed on the Retired List with the rank of Vice-Admiral on 8 May, 1940.[5]

He continued to serve as a convoy commander, and died when his merchant ship was torpedoed on 4 July, 1941.
