Commander (retired) Aubrey Charles Thursfield (12 November, 1887 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Thursfield was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1909.[1]

On 23 March 1911, he was admitted to Chatham Hospital with measles. He was discharged on 12 April.[2]

Thursfield was appointed Lieutenant in Command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 113 on January, 1913.[3]

Thursfield grounded T.B. 113 on 19 April, 1915. He was cautioned to pay closer attention to tides in future.

Thursfield was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1917.[4]

He was appointed in command of the destroyer Nymphe on 29 April, 1918.[5]

Post-War

Thursfield was appointed in command of the gunboat Cockchafer on 22 December, 1919.[6] In 1921, he was congratulated on successfully navigating the gunboat to upper Yangtze, as she was fully 35 feet longer than any other steamship that had successfully made the passage.[7]

Thursfield was placed on the Retired List with the rank of Commander on 1 November, 1929.[8]
