Lieutenant-Commander Richard Michael Eames Pain, (29 September, 1909 – 21 June, 1942) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Pain was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 February, 1932.[1]
Pain was Court Martialed on 18 March 1939 in the wake of the 22 February grounding of Sterlet after dragging her anchors while moored off Sandown Pier Light. Commander John Egerton Broome assisted him in lodging his "not guilty" plea to two charging stemming from the accident. Despite supporting testimony as to his qualifications as a submarine commander from Harry P. K. Oram, John P. Wisden and Broome, Pain was dismissed the ship and reprimanded.[2]
Pain was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 February, 1940.[3]
Pain died when Template:UK-P514 was lost.
