Vice-Admiral (retired) Robert Don Oliver, C.B., C.B.E., D.S.C. (17 March, 1895 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of Major William J. Oliver of the Reserve Royal Artillery.
Oliver was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 April, 1916.[1]
Oliver was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 April, 1924.[2]
Oliver was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1929.[3]
Oliver was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1935.[4]
Oliver was appointed in command of the battleship Iron Duke in January, 1939.[5]
Oliver was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 2 January, 1945.[6]
Oliver was placed on the Retired List at the rank of Vice-Admiral on 26 September, 1948. In 1950 he was granted permission to proceed to France.[7]
