Rear-Admiral Dennis Marescaux Lees, C.B., D.S.O., R.N. (28 January, 1900 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of retired Army captain J. Lees passed out of the Training Establishment on 1 January, 1916 and was appointed to the dreadnought Hercules. He would fight in her at the Battle of Jutland. On 9 April, 1918 he was appointed to the sweeping sloop Daphne, in which he served until being sent to take courses at Cambridge on 10 October, 1919.[1]

Lees was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 April, 1920.[2]

Lees was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 April, 1928.[3]

Lees was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1933.[4]

World War II

Lees was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1939.[5]

Lees was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 8 January, 1949. He was placed on the Retired List on 14 February, 1953.[6]
