Commander (emergency) Bertram Edward Jones, R.N. (1 October, 1886 – ) served in the Royal Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy.
Life & Career
The son of Lawrence J. Jones, Bart. was born in Suffolk.
Jones was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 August, 1907.
Jones was appointed in command of the submarine A 11 on 1 February, 1910.[1]
On 16 January, 1913, Jones was transferred to the Emergency List.
At the outbreak of the war, Jones was in the Canadian Naval Service, based at Esquimalt.
Jones was appointed in command of the submarine CC 2, tender to the depot ship Shearwater on 2 August, 1914 through 4 July, 1919.
He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander, (emergency) R.N. on 30 August, 1915.
In recognition of wartime service, Jones was promoted to the rank of Commander on the Emergency List dated 11 November, 1918.
