Lieutenant-Commander Charles Harold Evelyn Head, R.N. (1 August, 1882 – 22 May, 1915) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Swansea the son of H. E. Head, Esq., Charles Head gained five months' time on passing out of Britannia.
Head was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 October, 1903 while in Albion. Captain Jerram was effusive in his evaluation: "very ingenious in all matters connected with applied mechanics of engineering", and recommended him as a candidate for torpedo lieutenant. Head indeed qualified as such in March, 1906.
Head was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 October, 1911.
Head was appointed in command of Vesuvius on 2 August, 1914, but died in a railway accident at Carlisle on 22 May, 1915.
