Lieutenant-Commander Walter Bousfield Watkins Grubb, (1 July, 1879 – 22 September, 1914) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of Lieutenant-Colonel Grubb.
Grubb was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 January, 1900. A Court Martial on 1 March 1910 during an appointment as First and Gunnery Officer in Challenger cost him a year's seniority after he pleaded guilty to neglect of duty and drinking to excess, altering this date to 15 January, 1901.[1]
Grubb was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 January, 1909.[2]
Grubb served from late 1910 to April 1913 as Gunnery Officer in the battleship Glory, and for vessels of the Fourth Division, Home Fleet. He was then appointed as Gunnery Officer in armoured cruiser Aboukir from mid April 1913 through mid March, 1914 and was appointed to the armoured cruiser H.M.S. Cressy as Gunnery Officer on 17 March, 1914. He would be killed when she was sunk by U 9 on 22 September, 1914.[3]
