Captain Arthur Hope Fanshawe, R.N., Retired (4 February, 1867 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Brighton, the son of Major General Fanshawe.

At the examinations for naval cadetships in mid 1879, Forster placed twenty-eighth out of thirty-seven successful candidates.[1]

Fanshawe was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1890.

Fanshawe was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Commander on 4 February, 1911.

Fanshawe was promoted to the rank of Captain (retired) in recognition of war service on 11 November, 1918.

He reverted to the Retired List at Gibraltar on 12 February, 1919.
