Captain Arthur Dodgson (29 July, 1859 – 7 August, 1903) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Dodgson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 29 June,m 1883.
An appointment in command of Halcyon dated 27 April, 1895[1] was cancelled, and Dodgson remained in Sharpshooter.
Dodgson was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1895. He suffered a serious accident of some kind and was later sick, necessitating his replacement in command of Sharpshooter.
Dodgson was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1901.
Dodgson was lent to Calliope, additional, for command of the Kingstown flotilla for manoeuvres on 21 July, 1903. On 7 August, he committed suicide on board Calliope "while of unsound mind", according to a verdict.
