Commander (retired) Brian Dean, D.S.O. (12 February, 1895 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of Commander Frederic William Dean, R.N. passed out of the Training Establishment in September 1912 and joined his first ship, the pre-dreadnought H.M.S. Britannia. He served in her to May 1915. Later wartime appointments placed him in Dahlia, Template:UK-1Halcyon, Matchless, Truculent and Minos. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 September, 1916. while serving in Matchless.[1]
Dean was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 September, 1924.[2]
World War II
Dean was placed on the Retired List on account of age with the rank of Commander on 12 February, 1940.[3]
He reverted to the Retired List as medically unfit on 11 April, 1947.[4]
