Commander (retired) Denys Royds Brocklebank, (13 September, 1898 – 22 February, 1947) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Upon passing out of the Training Establishment in February, 1917, Brocklebank was placed in Tiger, where he remained through late October 1918. After a gunnery course, he served in Radiant and Verdun.[1]

Brocklebank was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 May, 1920.[2]

Brocklebank was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 May, 1928.[3]

Brocklebank was invalided from command of Diamond in September 1934 due to an injury to his right knee. He was thanked by the Admiralty that same year for suggesting gunnery instruments.[4]

Placed on the Retired List at his own request on 16 April, 1935, Brocklebank was promoted to the rank of Commander on 13 September, 1938.[5]

World War II

Brocklebank was appointed in command of the "V" Class destroyer Vidette in the North Atlantic in June, 1939, but late in the month he was invalided from the role, diagnosed with an anxiety state. He was reverted to the Retired List on 10 August, 1940.[6]
