Pendant Number: L.26[1]
Builder: Vickers[2]
Ordered: December, 1916[3]
Launched: 29 May, 1919[4]

H.M.S. L 26 was one of thirty-five "L" class submarines completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

L 26 was commissioned for trials on 20 July, 1926,[6] the last war-built submarine to be commissioned.[7]

From at least mid-1927[8] to at least early 1929, she was with the First Submarine Flotilla in the Mediterranean.[9]

By mid-1931, she had been transferred to the Second Submarine Flotilla,[10] where she remained until at least mid-1934.[11]

In June of 1933, her bell was one of about 100 surplus bells announced as being for sale at prices ranging from £1 to £10. Preference would be given to those offers from men with a special consideration in the bell in question.[12]

From at least mid 1937 until at least mid-1939, she was with the Fifth Submarine Flotilla.[13][14]
