Captain R.N.R. Ernest William Richard Avery (10 December, 1885 – ) was an officer in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Born in Derby, Derbyshire.

In 1915 he served in Prince George. Avery was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 1 April, 1916. On 12 August, 1916 he was appointed to the battlecruiser Renown., in which he would serve until mid-September 1918.[1]

Avery was appointed in command of the destroyer Racehorse on 8 November, 1918.[2] His appointment would end at the end of the year. He was demobilised on 21 January, 1919.[3]

Avery was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 1 April, 1924.[4]

Avery was promoted to the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 30 June, 1930.[5]
