Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. (retired) Walter de Burgh Thomas (30 June, 1883 – ) was an officer in the Royal Naval Reserve. His last name may have been "de Burgh Thomas".

Life & Career

Thomas was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 15 December 1914.[1]

Found guilty of poor judgment in collision on 28 September 1917 between Surly and S.S. Vera.[2]

Thomas was appointed in command of the patrol boat P41 on 9 January, 1918.[3]

Thomas was placed on the Retired List owing to non-sea service on 30 September, 1922 and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 15 December, 1922.

An Enticing Mystery

A note pinned to his Service Record indicates that some time during 1933 at 3:30 (am or pm is not indicated), de Burgh Thomas called on the Admiral Commanding Reserves "about something which may be of National importance."[4]
