H.M.S. Venetia was one of twenty-five "V" class destroyers completed for the Royal Navy in 1917-18.

Service

Venetia joined the Thirteenth Destroyer Flotilla in January, 1918.[6] As part of this formation, she supported the Grand Fleet through the end of the war. In February, 1919, she moved to join the new-fangled Second Destroyer Flotilla.

She re-commissioned on 25 August, 1920.[7]

Re-commissioned at Devonport on 15 September, 1924.[8]

Paid off into Dockyard Control at Devonport on 19 May, 1927.[9]

She was re-commissioned at Devonport on 30 March, 1928.[10]

Venetia again re-commissioned at Devonport on 19 November, 1929.[11]

She was re-commissioned at Devonport on 14 June, 1932 for work with the Second Submarine Flotilla.[12]

She re-commissioned at Devonport on 31 August, 1934 for service with the Second Destroyer Flotilla of the Home Fleet under Lt. Cdr. Richard Graham Stewart.[13]

In 1935, her bell was one of several ships' bells the Royal Navy offered for sale to officers and others interested. It attracted a price of £1-£5, and men were to apply to win one at the fixed price, stating any special attachment or claim they had to the item(s) applied for.[14]

Reduced to Reserve at Devonport on 27 October 1936.[15]
