Captain (retired) Archibald Campbell Goolden, C.B.E., R.N. (30 September, 1879 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Goolden was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 July, 1900.[1]

Goolden was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 July, 1908.[2]

Goolden was appointed to the Research Department of the Royal Arsenal, Woolwich as Assistant Proof and Experimental Officer on 1 October, 1909. Apparently this was a post in which Britain required great experience, as although he was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 29 May 1912, he remained in the role until 7 March, 1920, being granted the acting rank of Commander (retired) on 9 November, 1917 and eventually promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 September, 1919.[3]

Goolden was promoted to the rank of Captain on 21 November, 1929.[4]

World War II

Goolden served, rather predictably, in the Naval Ordnance Inspection Department. He was reverted to the Retired List on 1 October, 1946.[5]
