Captain (retired) Arthur Hearle Tremayne, (29 September, 1868 – 15 October, 1944) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Tremayne was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 14 February, 1890.[1]

Tremayne was placed on the Retired List at the rank of Commander on 31 May, 1911.[2]

Called up during the Great War, Tremayne served as Assistant W/T Censor, Lands End from 1 August 1914 to 22 September 1915, when he became Assistant to Chief Censor. On 15 January, 1916, he was appointed to the Staff of the Inspector of Steel, Sheffield [illeg]. He held this post until be was reverted to the Retired List on 15 November, 1919.[3]

Tremayne was promoted to the rank of Captain (retired) in recognition of wartime service, dated 11 November, 1918.[4]
