H.M.S. Rocket was one of thirty-six 27 Knotters, a broad meta-class of early Torpedo Boat Destroyers built for the Royal Navy in the 1890s.
Like most of the 27 knotters, she was broken up before the war.
Construction & Service
Rocket replaced Sparrowhawk, which had been damaged in harbour accident, as one of two T.B.Ds. to leave Devonport for the West Indies Station in August, 1897. She and Quail left with the second class protected cruiser Charybdis acting as escort on 25 August.[7][8]
She was one of twenty-seven T.B.Ds. of the Portsmouth Flotilla to participate in the Annual Manoeuvres of 1909.[9]
