Commander Hugh James Orr, R.N., Retired (21 January, 1878 – 19 April, 1946) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Orr was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 November, 1899.[1]

In June 1906, Captain Tudor wrote that as gunnery officer in Challenger, Orr had been "[z]ealous as regards shooting, but unmethodical in his gunnery duties."[2]

Orr was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 November, 1907.[3]

Retired at his own request on 13 May 1912.[4]

Orr was promoted to the rank of Commander (retired) on 21 January, 1918.[5]

World War II

Reverted to the Retired List on 21 July, 1944.[6]
