Commander (emergency) SIR Melvill Willis Ward, Baronet, D.S.C., R.N. (25 May, 1885 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Woolwich.

On 9 February 1906 he was appointed to the Royal yacht H.M.Y. Victoria and Albert.[1]

On 31 August, 1906 Commodore of H.M. Yachts reported he was unable to recommend Ward for promotion, as he had left the deck for over an hour while officer of the watch at a time when the Queen was aboard.[2]

On 19 October, 1906, his resignation was accepted.[3]

On 7 August, 1914, Ward was placed on the Emergency List at the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 30 July, 1907.[4]

Ward was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 July, 1915.[5]

World War II

Ward was promoted to the rank of Commander on the Emergency List on 8 May, 1946.[6]
