Commander (retired) John Alfred Garland, R.N., (19 April, 1894 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 May, 1916. On 27 May, he was appointed to the destroyer Cameleon. On 25 July, 1916 he was appointed to the destroyer Plucky. He served in that ship until being appointed to the Seafire on 28 September, 1918.[1]

He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 May, 1924.[2]

Garland reverted to General Service from Operations in 1934.[3]

He was placed on the Retired List with the rank of Commander on 19 April, 1939.[4]

World War II

In 1948, he proceeded abroad to Switzerland.[5]
