H.M.S. Nautilus was a large submarine in the Royal Navy launched in 1914 and completed only in 1917 as H.M.S. N 1.

Although she was nominally placed in service with the Sixth Submarine Flotilla, she actually provided power to other submarines and acted as a depot vessel.

Torpedoes

In 1913, it was decided that the boat should have:[9][10]

  • one 21-in tube forward, four torpedoes appropriated
  • six 18-in tubes (four broadside, two aft), twenty torpedoes appropriated

It appears likely that this was reconsidered and that the boat was completed with:

  • eight 18-in tubes (two forward, four broadside and two stern), sixteen torpedoes

Guns

  • one 3-in H.A.
