Captain John Henry Loftie, (7 October, 1874 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in County Armagh, the son of H. P. Loftie, who requested on 1 May 1890 that his son be called J. Henry Loftie. Admiral Fairfax approved this request.[1]

Loftie was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1896.[2]

Loftie was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1907.[3]

After paying off Glory in April 1914, Loftie was appointed to H.M.S. Vivid for the Boys Training Establishment, where he remained until 4 January, 1917.[4]

Loftie was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Captain on 11 October, 1920.[5]
