Asencion Island is an isolated volcanic island in the equatorial waters of the South Atlantic, located roughly midway between the horn of South America and Africa. Though it lacks a natural harbour of any consequence, its remote location made it a valuable asset in naval strategy, serving as a coaling station for the Royal Navy during the Dreadnought Era.
