Life & Career
Denney was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 29 August, 1916.
Denney was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander on 8 June, 1920.
Denney was promoted to the rank of Commander on 26 August, 1925.
Denney was promoted to the rank of Captain on 1 July, 1936. He commanded the cruiser Pensacola from 1937 to 1939.
