Italy built eight "La Masa" class destroyers during the Great War, launching six before the conflict ended. Most would be lost in World War II, but two survived into the late 1950s. They were considered a third series of refinements on the Indomito class, replacing the six 4-in guns on the preceding Sirtori class with four weapons of greater length.
