Admiral (retired) Patrick William Beresford Brooking, D.S.O.*, C.B. (30 October, 1896 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Brooking was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 October, 1917.[1]
Brooking was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 October, 1925.[2]
Brooking was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1930.[3]
Brooking was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1937.[4]
Brooking was appointed in command of the light cruiser Sirius twice – first from 27 February, 1942 to 20 May, 1943 and then again from 20 June 1943 to 29 October, 1943.[5] Herbert Wyndham Williams held command for the intervening month.
Brooking was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 5 July, 1946.[6]
Brooking was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 3 August, 1949.[7]
Brooking was placed on the Retired List on 15 August, 1950 and promoted to the rank of Admiral (retired) on 18 March, 1953.[8]
