Commander (retired) Peter Coats Hutton, D.S.O. (2 November, 1902 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Hutton was appointed to the cruiser Raleigh in March 1921. He would be awarded the Royal Humane Society's Silver Medal for saving life on the occasion of the loss of the ship on 8 August, 1922. In the aftermath of a capsized cutter, Hutton left a safe perch on shore he had obtained to go into the heavy surf to rescue a seaman. Hutton was later also awarded the Stanhope Medal for 1922.[1] In September, he was appointed to the battleship Royal Sovereign.
Hutton was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 December, 1924. He resigned on 5 January, 1927 and was placed on the Emergency List.
