Commander (retired) Leonard Albert William Johnson, (3 November, 1894 – ) served in the Royal Navy after some time in the Royal Naval Reserve.
Life & Career
As a Midshipman R.N.R., Johnson was appointed to the battlecruiser H.M.S. Queen Mary from 16 September to 20 December, 1913. He joined the Roal Navy in June, 1915.
Johnson served in the sweeping sloop Primula until she was sunk by U 35 on 1 March, 1916.
Johnson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 17 August, 1917.
Johnson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 17 August, 1925.
In late 1926, he was loaned to the Royal Australian Navy for two years.
After commanding Tiverton, Johnson commanded the trawler Liffey, formerly Stoneaxe from January, 1932 until 14 September of an illegible year.
World War II
Johnson served in a variety of capacities throughout the war, initially as an instructor in London and Birmingham.
