U.S.S. K-1, originally to be named U.S.S. Haddock, was one of eight Haddock Class submarines completed for the U.S. Navy.

She was commissioned on 17 March, 1914 with Lieutenant (junior grade) E. F. Cutts in command.

Service

In early 1916, K-1, K-2 and K-5 were sent to Pensacola, Florida, their crews accommodated aboard Tallahassee.[4]
