H.M.S. Devonshire was one of four London Class cruisers completed for the Royal Navy in the late 1920s.

There was an earlier armoured cruiser named H.M.S. Devonshire that fought in the Great War.

Service

Devonshire commissioned for trials on 1 January, 1929.[6]

She commissioned at Devonport on 19 March, 1929 under the command of Flag Captain Henry Clive Rawlings, who had seen her through her trials.[7]

Re-commissioned at Devonport on 14 October, 1931.[8]
