The Ronald Megaw Memorial Prize was a Presentation Sword and its accoutrements as well as selected books or instruments awarded annually to the Sub-Lieutenant who obtained the highest place during the preceding year in the various examinations prescribed for Officers qualifying for the rank of Lieutenant.
It was founded in 1906 in memory of Midshipman Ronald Megaw, who was killed accidentally on 11 November, 1904 while at General Quarters on board H.M.S. Montagu.
The prize was underwritten by interest on a sum of £1,000, given by Megaw's Father and held upon trust by the Admiralty.
