H.M.S. L 11 was one of thirty-five "L" class submarines completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

In late 1920, she was one of two "L" class vessels in submarine reserve group "M" at Portland, tender to Lucia.[6]

In March, 1925 she, L 21 and L 22 comprised Group "E" Submarines in Reserve at Portsmouth under the command of Lieutenant-Commander Arthur Laugham Noakes.[7]

She commissioned at Portsmouth on 13 November 1925 under the command of Lieutenant-Commander George J. D. Tweedy.[8]

In mid-1927 she was one of four boats in Group "D" submarines in reserve at Portsmouth, which was under the command of Arthur Salusbury Lindsell.[9]

In early 1929, she and L 12 comprised Group "D" submarines in Reserve at Portsmouth under the collective command of Lieutenant-Commander Harry Percy Kendall Oram, who'd been appointed on 30 July, 1928.[10]
