H.M.S. L 56 was one of thirty-five "L" class submarines completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

Completed to full crew on 29 November, 1921. In March 1925, she was part of Second Submarine Flotilla in the Mediterranean,[6] remaining there until at least early 1929.[7]
